Even though the school year ended just a few weeks ago, it is not too early to begin making sure your child has all their requirement immunizations for the 2011-2012 school year.

The following are additional immunization requirements for the 2011-12 school year:

             Hepatitis A: 2 doses in a lifetime, 2 doses required for Pre-K, Kinder, 1st & 2nd grades.

             Tdap: a booster dose requirement for 7th, 8th & 9th.

MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella): 2 doses required for Pre-K, Kinder, 1st & 2nd grades.

             Meningococcal: 1 dose for 7th, 8th & 9th.

             Varicella (Chickenpox): 2 doses requirement for Pre-K, Kinder, 1st, 2nd, 7th, 8th & 9th.

All children must have all the necessary protection against the following diseases before the child can attend school: diphtheria, polio, measles, rubella, mumps, Hib, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, varicella, Tdap, and meningococcal.  In addition, it is highly recommended that each student be vaccinated yearly for the prevention of Influenza.  Please contact your family physician/clinic to make sure immunizations are up-to-date.

Texas Education Code requires each student be fully immunized against disease as required by the Texas Board of Health.  According to the education code, a student who is not fully immunized and has not begun the required immunizations may not attend school.  When transferring from another school district in Texas, a student may be provisionally admitted for no more than 30 days pending receipt of immunization records.

Mission CISD strongly urges all parents to make sure immunizations are up to date prior to registration.  The student’s immunization records must be available at the time of registration to avoid any delays in admitting their children.

 Welcome

Welcome to the Mission CISD Newsroom. We have tried to make it easier for you to keep up with district news by consolidating all our items into one "newsroom".  This also means there is just one RSS feed you need to use to keep up with all our district news. News Releases, newsletters, podcasts, etc. will all get posted to this page. We do have a special archive set up (see the links on left side of page) if you want to go back and download anything that does not appear here any longer. We hope you will find this more convenient.
