MHS FFA hoping to put food on lots of tables this holiday season

Mission, Texas- The Mission High School FFA Chapter is challenging its self and the district to see how much food they can provide for the tables of those in need this holiday season. They have organized the district wide community service challenge food drive. The MHS FFA has invited all Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) schools and departments to collect canned goods or non-perishable food items to be shared with various food pantries in the area.

The food collection drive will last until December 11. All donated items will be picked up by the district maintenance department for distribution.

There will be three first place homeroom class winners, based upon the amount of items donated: one elementary school class, one junior high school class, and one high school class. The prizes will include a BBQ party, trophy, and banner to display at the campus. Second and third place classrooms at each level will get trophies, a banner, and a hand-made campus picnic table created by the FFA students.

There will also be four first place winners at the campus and district department level. Winners at this level will be a special luncheon for the faculty and a banner.
