Students prepare for trial

Over 20 students from our three high schools recently spent a Saturday preparing for trial. They met at Mission Collegiate High School for a special Mock Trial student clinic organized by the district. This was held in order to help students begin to prepare for their upcoming mock trial competition that will be held in January at the Hidalgo County Courthouse. This will be the first time Mission CISD has fielded mock trial teams for the regional competition. The students were coached on responsibilities and commitments that go with being on a mock trial team and help with courtroom procedures.  Guest speakers included Marissa Marmolejo, a mock trial coach/teacher from Edcouch Elsa and attorney Renee Rodriguez-Betancourt. Mission Collegiate High School, Mission High School, and Veterans Memorial High School plan to have teams compete in the regional mock trial competition hosted by the Region One Education Service Center.
