Mission Jr. High School cheerleaders earn bid to nationals

             Mission, Texas- If there was more pep in the step recently of the members from the Mission Junior High School (MJH) cheerleading squad, it may have something to do with their participation in the recent National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) camp. The team earned a number of awards, including a bid to the NCA Senior and Junior High School National Championship to be held in Dallas, Texas in January 2018.

            The members of the MJH cheerleaders are: Alysia Barrera, Layla Choate, Brianna Perez, Analisa Montalvo, Emily Fernandez, Larissa Lopez, Belen Aguirre, Roseanette Abrego, Kaylee Alaniz, Shelsy Coronado, Jennelle Gonzalez (co-captain), Victoria Gonzalez, Kaylee Gordon (captain), Melody Leanos, Jorgina Ortiz.

            The team earned three superior ribbons and one excellent ribbon for their evaluations. They also earned the following awards: Herkie Award, Stunt S.A.F.E. Award, Special Event Invitation, Technical Excellence Award for Motions.

            In addition to these honors, four girls earned All-American nominations: Alysia Barrera, Jennelle Gonzalez, Kaylee Gordon, Brianna Perez. Gonzalez and Gordon also made the NCA All-American Team.
