Mission, Texas- Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) has received the highest possible rating under the Texas School FIRST (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas) ratings system.
Mission CISD has earned a rating of “Superior”. The rating is the highest, demonstrating the quality of Mission CISD’s financial management and reporting systems. Mission CISD has received the highest possible rating 15 years in a row (every year possible) under the accountability rating system.
The School FIRST was developed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in response to Senate Bill 875 of the 77th Texas Legislature in 2001. The primary goal of School FIRST is to achieve quality performance in the management of school district financial resources, a goal made more significant due to the complexity of accounting associated with Texas’ school finance system.
This year, the FIRST ratings are based on 15 financial indicators such as: administrative cost expenditures, the accuracy of a district or charter’s financial information submitted to TEA, any financial vulnerabilities or material weaknesses in internal controls as determined by an external auditor, debt service ratios, debt payments, cash on hand, etc.
“We are very pleased to receive the highest rating yet again,” said Mission CISD assistant superintendent for finance, Rumalda Ruiz. “It is important that our taxpayers know that the district is continuing to make the most of our taxpayer dollars.”
