Mission, Texas- An athletics related partnership Mission (CISD) has with the Boys and Girls Club of Mission is continuing to expose elementary students to different athletic events. A recent volleyball tournament held brought together teams from various elementary and junior high schools to showcase what they have learned, while also providing for some competition.
In the east side competition, in grades 3-5, the team from Mims Elementary School came in first place; Midkiff Elementary School, second; Alton Elementary School, third; Castro Elementary School and Salinas Elementary School, fourth. In the west side competition for grades 3-5: Pearson Elementary School too first place; Leal Elementary School, second; Cantu Elementary School, third; O’Grady Elementary School, fourth. In the sixth grade tournament, Mission Jr. High School too first place; R. Cantu Jr. High School, second; K. White Jr. High School, third; Alton Memorial Jr. High School, fourth.
Other activities included throughout the school year through the Boys and Girls Club partnership include: flag football, cross country, basketball, soccer, and track.
