VMHS FFA students advance to area competition

            Mission, Texas- The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) FFA Chapter recently competed in the Rio Grande Valley FFA District Leadership Development Events. This event brings together about 25 schools and chapters. Four competitive teams or individuals from the VMHS FFA chapter are advancing to area level competitions, based upon their performance at the district level.

            The Agricultural Advocacy Team placed first at the district competition and is advancing to the area level. Team members are: Brittany Sepulveda, Anna Vela, Samantha Wolter, Victoria Salinas.

            The Junior Spanish FFA Creed Speaker area competition will include Fernanda Fanjon, who placed first at the district competition.

            Greenhand FFA Creed Speaker, JR Martinez placed second at the district competition and qualifies for advancement.

            The Junior Farm Radio Team will be advancing to the area competition after placing second at the district level. Team members are: Lexy Garza, JR Martinez, Edanili Sanchez.

            Other VMHS FFA Chapter members who did well at the district competition includes: Senior Farm Radio Team, Maria Diaz, Klarissa Farias, Alyssa Vento, third place; Job Interview participant Ben Garcia, fifth place; Public Relation Team, Brianna Flores, James Flores, Alyssa Rodriguez, Alexandra Salinas, fifth place; Senior FFA Creed Speaker Kaitlyn Ramirez, sixth place; Junior FFA Quiz Team, Lexy Garza, Brett Gerlach, JR Martinez, Angela Gracia, seventh place.
