Veterans Memorial FFA Chapter competes at Texas FFA State Career Development Event

                Members of the Veterans Memorial FFA Chapter recently competed in the Texas FFA State Career Development Event held at Texas A&M in College Station, TX. The group’s Veterinary Science team qualified for state competition by finishing second in the RGV district and third in the Area 10 competition.  The team members are: Zenaida Alaniz, David Bazan, Samantha Diaz, Fernanda Marrero, Sarah Langley.

                Other members of the Veterans Memorial FFA Chapter who did well at the Area 10 competition include the following. The poultry judging team consisting of Mranda Farias, Isabella Farias, Kendra Garcia, and Christina Reyna placed 17th. The wool judging team consisting of Marco Diaz, Kerena Lopez, and Carla Ferro placed sixth. The entomology team consisting of Priscilla Cerroblanco, Gil Lopez, Myhra Zarate, and Andres Vasquez placed eighth. The livestock judging team consisting of Eliza Vela, Angel Sanchez, Roy Guerrero, and A.J. Barba placed 31st.

                The Texas FFA is the nation’s largest state FFA association with a membership of 103,000 active FFA members. On average, there are approximately 18 schools per FFA district. FFA programs teach skills in leadership, career development, and personal growth. FFA gives students the opportunity to practically apply classroom knowledge to real-world experiences through local, state, and national competitions.
