the new accountability ratings for all school districts in the state of Texas may seem familiar to everyone but the meaning behind the new ratings may surprise you the 85th Texas legislature passed a law that requires the Texas Education Agency or tea. open new rating system for districts and schools assigning them a letter grade of a a b c d or F these are being used for the first time in 2018 and will be used for School District zone schools will still be rated under the old system for one more year to do letter grades for districts means this and a is exemplary performance puppy is recognized performance as he is acceptable performance a d is in need of improvement I have enough is unacceptable performance TDA is using a much more comprehensive system of data and data comparisons to arrive at our rating for district Simmons ever been used before the goal is to provide parents and the community a better idea of the learning that's going on in their schools the overall rating the district will be based upon braids or ratings given in each of three different areas or domains those areas or domains are student achievement on the star School progress and closing the gap which includes College and Career readiness 10% of a deserts final rating will be based on the best score from the first two areas or demands 30% of the district's final rating will be based on how the district is closing gaps in student achievement.
