
Esperanza “Espie” Ochoa, served as a Statewide Coordinator for the University of Texas-Austin Institute of Public Initiatives for 6 years where her duties consisted of providing professional development and technical assistance for building model sites and/or assisted in building capacity for district leadership in leads field support for Year 8 Special Projects for the Texas Reading First. She assisted in building capacity for district leadership in ISDs and mentored campus reading coaches, principals, and/or teachers. She monitored special project implementation. And providing technical assistance in the field for building capacity for school district leadership in designated districts to guide teachers to analyze diagnostic student achievement, implementing the 3-Tier Model of instruction, teach core reading program and provide intervention support for students working below level for all schools in the district. Ms. Ochoa has also served in the public school years another 11 years. . Ms. Ochoa obtained a Bachelor in Interdisciplinary Studies with a Minor in Bilingual Education at the University of Texas-Pan American, and also obtained a Master’s in Education and Leadership, with the main focus being on reading.
