The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires school districts to provide accessible versions of instructional materials to students who are blind or otherwise unable to use standard-format materials.
Students with disabilities should receive materials in accessible formats at the same time their peers receive the materials. If needed, the local education agency (LEA) can order a second set for a student to use at home.

Texas Workforce Solutions-Vocational Rehabilitation Services (TWSVRS) and Pre-Employment Transition Services can help you and your student prepare a plan for life after high school.

The University Interscholastic League will consider requests to accommodate a student with physical or mental impairments. The school should submit the Request for Accommodation form located at the link below with the appropriate signatures a minimum of two weeks before the contest in which the accommodation is sought. Requests submitted after that time, absent extenuating circumstances, will not be granted.
The request shall adhere to the accommodations provided by the student’s Sec. 504 Committee and/or A.R.D. Committee. No student records are to be submitted to UIL. The only required submission is the signed request with the rationale for the accommodation. The completed form should be submitted to the UIL office, Music, Athletics, or Academics, that administers the game or contest in question.

Before a student can take certain exams—PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, SAT, or AP Exams—with accommodations, they must request the accommodations and be approved by College Board’s Services for Students with Disabilities.
