Mission High School was the first in the state to offer a Mexican-American Studies Dual Enrollment course. It was first offered for the 2014-2015 school year in conjunction with our partners, South Texas College.

they know when you Mexico became a state of the United States conventional  no but you're in the right century 1912 but for the chorus that it's adults which is awesome for them and they thought it's an easy class we need something to fill in the schedule at why not take that class so I don't think they expected it to be it is and the history that they're making here they they had no idea that that it would be such a such an important course and what that entails is a shift from an eastern center narrative concerning the developing the United States to a Southwest or South Southwest Center narrative concerning New Albany High States people forget about how extensive the Spanish and power original was erase or their ethnic background the demographics of the United States are changing very quickly the Hispanic population in the u.s. is growing significantly I'm being culturally competent is important for any individual in the business realm and college when they leave for college they're going to come into interaction with lot of other cultures and a lot of people with other backgrounds and to be aware of your own history and for somebody who doesn't come from this background to be aware of background is important for them and their interactions with just another American east coast Anglo-Saxon history salivary awkward story of the development of American democracy in American capitalism in today's world where I came from and I felt like this class would help me understand more cast for that but it's also wrote interesting I mean it's teaching you where you come from and not like these other password they just tell you they just Skip by the subject it goes into driving to detail telling you that your heritage basically saying where you come from and what to do is to bring something that's and part of local history and history that we don't spend too much time covering in in US history class if you have to take it cuz it's going to show you who you are where you come from
