VMHS student places in top ten at national competition

 

            Mission, Texas- Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) student, Rene Olivarez placed sixth in the nation at the 2016 Business Professionals of America National Leadership Conference held recently in Boston, MA. Olivarez competed in the Extemporaneous Speech events. After advancing to the finals of the national competition, he placed at sixth in the nation after the results were released.

            In order to compete at the national conference, students must be a registered BPA member in good standing and compete in a regional and state level workplace skills assessment program. Olivarez placed first in the regional competitions and second at the state competition, qualifying him for nationals.

            BPA is the leading Career and Technical Student Organization for students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields.
