Preparing Students for College, Careers and Life
The initiative is called Mission CISD Reads. Through the strong support of the Mission CISD Board of Trustees, and the leaders of the cities of Alton, Mission, and Palmhurst, all residents in Mission CISD will have access to a unique online library of thousands of books through myON.
During the three-day Congress, Deyanira Picazo will join students from across the country and hear Novel Laureates and National Medal of Science Winners talk about leading medical research; be given advice from Ivy League and top medical school deans on what to expect in medical school; witness stories told by patients who are living medical miracles; be inspired by fellow teen medical science prodigies; and learn about cutting-edge advances and the future in medicine and medical technology.
Educators are selected for this award based on their capacity to lead a year-long, open-ended invention project with students at their school. At EurekaFest, Excite Award recipients meet and are inspired by current InvenTeams, teams of high school students, teachers and mentors that received grants of up to $10,000 each to invent technological solutions to real-world problems.
Marcell Elementary School earns gold award and three other schools earn silver from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. Marcell is one of only 10 in the country to earn the top award.
Throughout the program, students have classroom instruction, skills practice, and clinical rotations at the Mission Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Castro Elementary School, Cavazos Elementary School, and Mims Elementary School have been named to the Renaissance National Honor Roll.
Eleven choir members earned a spot in the choir, and one member earned an alternate spot.
