MCISD Employees Help Extinguish Fire

Mission, Texas- The quick thinking of two Mission CISD employees is what helped extinguish a vehicle fire last Thursday at Bryan Elementary. Juan Galaviz and Jose Price were on the east-side of the cafeteria doing an installation in preparation for the school’s Harvest Festival when they heard an explosion.

They both looked at each other as they tried to figure out what the loud explosion had been and it wasn’t until they walked around the corner that they saw a parked car with the hood up in flames. Price ran to get the fire extinguisher from the maintenance truck then both him and Galaviz along with a good Samaritan helped put out the fire.

The Mission Fire Department arrived shortly after that to assess the situation and to make sure everything was under control. The owner of the vehicle along with his two young daughters were safe and unharmed. Galaviz and Price went on with their daily duties and for them putting out a fire is all in a day’s work.
