Veterans Memorial High School is proud to announce, Aylin Salinas, has been selected to compete at the Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza Vocal Competition in San Antonio, Texas. She was selected among hundreds to compete in this category and was only one of 20 that will participate in 2017 National Vocalist Competition on December 2, 2017 at the Lila Cockrell Theatre (Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center). This is the first time ever that a Mission CISD Mariachi student has attained this invitation to compete at this level. Mariachi Vargas Extravaganza is an annual event that celebrates the history and cultural impact that mariachi music has in our communities. The event features several competitions in vocals, mariachi group, and songwriting along with concerts by world-renowned musicians.
