Campus teachers of the year announced

           Mission, Texas- Each Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) campus has made their selections for Teacher of the year at their school. These top educators were then entered into the Mission CISD Teacher of the Year program. It is from this program that one elementary and one secondary teacher will be selected to represent Mission CISD in the Regional Teacher of the year contest.

           The 14 elementary Campus Teachers of the Year for this year are: Cici Perales, Alton Elementary School; Rhonda Pena, Bryan Elementary School; Mari Galloso, Cantu Elementary School; Beatriz Garza, Castro Elementary School; Marissa Chavez, Cavazos Elementary School; Robert Baldazo, Escobar/Rios Elementary School; Mariel Hernandez, Leal Elementary School; Victor Alonzo, Marcell Elementary School; Sandra Cantu Rios, Midkiff Elementary School; Maricarmen Saycocie, Mims Elementary School; Lorena Morales, O’Grady Elementary School; Gabriela Rada, Pearson Elementary School; Crystalin Flores, Salinas Elementary School; Veronica Lopez, Waitz Elementary School.

           The nine secondary Campus Teachers of the Year are: Beatriz Garcia, Alton Memorial Jr. High School; Matthew Whittington Adams, K. White Jr. High School; Nellie Garcia, Mission Jr. High School; Daniel Reyna III, R. Cantu Jr. High School; Salvador Ovalle, Mission High School; Mabeline Rodriguez, Veterans Memorial High School; Cheryl Floodine, Mission Collegiate High School; Ramiro Reyes Jr., Mission Options Academy; Dahriel Serrano, Roosevelt Alternative School.

           Each of these teachers was tasked with filling out a questionnaire used in the Texas Teacher of the Year program. The questionnaire is then reviewed by a panel of judges selected from the community. These judges make the final selection of the two teachers to represent Mission CISD in the regional competition. The judges’ decision will be announced at a special Teacher of the Year Luncheon to be held on Friday, May 11 at Balli’s Social and Event Center in Mission. Each campus Teacher of the Year will also be honored by the district administration and Board of Trustees during this special luncheon.
