High school homecoming public activity schedules

                The last week of October will be homecoming week for Mission High School (MHS) and Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS).

                The main, public, homecoming events for VMHS begin on Wednesday, October 29 with a homecoming parade. The VMHS parade will begin at about 5:00 p.m. on Conway near Griffin Parkway, heading north. The parade route then turns east on Two Mile Rd, then south on Mayberry where it enters the VMHS campus. A community pep rally and burning of the “V” will follow the parade. The VMHS homecoming football game against Rio Grande City High School will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30.

The main public events for MHS also begin on Wednesday, October 29 with the homecoming parade. The parade is scheduled to begin at about 5:30 p.m. The parade will start near the Northside Pool, then down Nicholson Ave, east on Cleo Dawson, south on Conway, west on Tom Landry, up W. Kika De la Garza to Tom Landry Stadium. In addition to the MHS students involved in the parade, the feeder schools for MHS have also been invited to participate in this year’s parade. A community pep rally and burning of the “M” will follow the parade. MHS will host the Alumni Tea on Thursday, October 30 from 2:00-3:30p.m. at the campus Library. The campus homecoming pep rally will be held at 3:40 p.m. in the Neuhaus Gym. The homecoming football game will be played on Friday, October 31 against Juarez-Lincoln High School. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
