The Alton City Commission honored campus teachers of the year during their meeting held on Tuesday, March 24. For several years, the commissioners have taken time during one of their meetings to honor teachers of the year from Alton area schools. Each teacher received a special certificate and tickets to the upcoming Alton Chamber of Commerce Gala.
The teachers recognized at the meeting were: Melissa Lopez, Cantu Elementary School; Aurora Gonzalez, Cavazos Elementary School; Leo Cantu, Salinas Elementary School; Janie Mandujano, Waitz Elementary School; Sammy Rivera, Alton Memorial Jr. High School; Jose Delgado, R. Cantu Jr. High School. Not able to attend was Sandra Pena from Alton Elementary School.
