Use this small group instruction spelling activity to keep your students actively engaged during small group approach.

welcome to Mission CISD language arts department in order to facilitate small group instruction in the classroom will be presenting a spelling activity according to small group reading instruction buy Southern early childhood it enables teachers to focus on specific skills needed by different groups of students and it also encourages active engagement of students during a small group there are some benefits of small group instruction can often be too challenging for students with the least literacy knowledge and Touhy super students with the most literacy knowledge there for the whole group approach does not always meet students need even in kindergarten the small group approach on the other hand better enables teachers to meet the of each student small group instruction is more effective than whole group instruction because teachers can't differentiate instruction to meet each student needs better match instruction to each student level Ariston children's reading more effectively activity will Target a Kinder spelling rotation for this activity you will need the following materials we will need for this presentation purposes lesson guide for the second reporting. Week 2 the highlighted words for the words that were used to develop the spelling list or the list de palabras your Dorothy we need to keep in mind that for every expectation we need to provide a sample for the students so they can meet those expectations as you can see these are the spelling word list that can be used for this specific week you will also need a pattern the puzzle pattern and construction paper or any other paper that you might have in your classroom as well as some dry erase markers desert TV can also be done in Spanish as you can see we have our white where we wrote different words it's usually two words in a page and then we make our five sets depending on the number students that you have in your group and we made it in color every set has to be a different color so the students want makes the cards once we cut the cards we will put them in a little plastic bag with a marker the purpose of this activity is to teach the students that every sound put together can make a word and they can spell it correctly once the students can put a word together like a puzzle they will get the marker and they will write the word a paper provided by the teacher for example in this case we're going to place different sheets of paper on the wall or any other area that the teacher might choose at the students level should the students can go and write the word on the paper every student will have a different color of marker this will be used for accountability for their learning at the teacher we can notice a different color where's on the paper and see what students were working and what shouldn't I might have had difficulty with this activity when teaching in Spanish we know that words are put together using see us this is an example in Spanish weirdest students can complete the puzzle put the two pieces together once they put them together they can get the marker and write it down on the paper provided by the teacher as the students complete the activity this is what you will see you will see different colors of markers and the different numbers of words on the chart this will help you know what students completing the task and what students were struggling with it when the group is done with that you can as one of the students to move the paper to the side and group to Will head to that rotation and do the same activity for differentiated instruction if you have students that finish this activity quickly they can go back to their group and continue using those words to write sentences on the other hand if you have students are struggling to ride the words on the chart paper you can provide a different tool this writing paddles can be use for students that have difficulty copying the word you can just assign those to those struggling students so they can complete the task using a different method once you stablish a routine you can use this activity for the rest of the year the only thing that would change spelling list according to the words that you need to Target in your lesson guides this activity provides the students with the opportunity to practice their spelling skills as well as a writing skill
