Team Mission tied for first place in the Unified Sports Track & Field Division at the Special Olympics Summer State Games in Arlington, Texas this past weekend. Congratulations to the Mission CISD team, Special Olympics athletes Pedro Ruiz and Bryan Arellano and unified partners Angel Ruiz and Ramiro Farias. After three days of heated races and incredible throws in the mini-javelin event, Mission CISD and Newton ISD tied for 1st place.
Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches for their amazing performance. Athletes were coached by Special Olympics Coaches Leo Esquivel and Ramiro Segovia. Also, a special thanks to coach Kathryn Howell and teacher Maricela Cruz Munoz for working together to help create the unified team.
