District and campus response to possible security issue

The safety of students and staff at school is a top priority for Veterans Memorial High School and Mission CISD. We were notified that a questionable note to carry out violence was found at VMHS. While we do not believe the threat is credible, we felt it was important to let you know. We take all threats to student safety very seriously. We would rather err on the side of caution and are taking extra security precautions. We are coordinating with local law enforcement, which includes additional security measures for the campus out of an abundance of caution. Mission CISD does plan to proceed with appropriate legal action against any person involved in making threats against our students or facilities.

Campus and student safety takes the cooperation of everyone and we appreciate the support of our staff, students, and parents in this area. We also ask for the help of all parents. Take this opportunity to speak with your children to reinforce the importance of reporting any information that could impact student safety. Be cautious of spreading rumors in social media. Concerns and threats should be reported immediately. Reports can be made to campus administration or through our Stay Alert Hotline, 1-206-406-6485, online through www.stayalert.info, or email at [email protected].
