Mission Options Academy held their recognition banquet on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at La Mansion Ballroom. A over eighty students were recognized for either finishing their requirements for graduation, completing their credits, obtaining their Career and Technical Education certification and/or CTE participation.

The  guest speaker for the evening was Dr. Carol G. Perez, Mission CISD Superintendent, in which she shared with students two of her favorite books that talk about late bloomers. One called Late Bloomer- The Power of Patience in a World Obsessed with Early Achievement which she referenced and to conclude she read the students Leo the Late Bloomer.

“We all bloom differently in life and at different times, we are not in race in life,” Dr. Perez. “Sometimes we have to stop and smell the flowers as well as enjoy the time that we are living.”

Mission Education Foundation board member, Mrs. Minnie Rodgers, was also in attendance to present two students, Giovanni Hinojosa and Rodrigo Torres, Jr., a $500 scholarship. Students were presented their certificates and then everyone enjoyed a celebratory dinner with friends and relatives.

A special thank you to all the students that participated as part of the program for the banquet:  Arturo Alejandro, Nathalie Vasquez, Brianda Grimaldo, Paola Flores, Victoria Maldonado, and Dereck Cavazos.
