Mission CISD recognized for excellence in risk management

The Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) recently received an Excellence Award from the Texas Association of School Boards’ (TASB) Risk Management Fund, along with $1,000 to be used toward risk management efforts. Mission CISD was one of the 10 Texas public school districts to receive the award during the TASB Risk Management Fund’s Members Conference on May 2nd in Austin.

Mission CISD was recognized for its Fall into Better Health 5K Run/Walk event which was organized to promote health and wellness among employees, their families, and the community. The district provided prizes and other participation incentives. Local medical and dental providers attended the event, sharing wellness information and explaining their services. Several eateries provided healthy snacks and health-conscience food from their menus.

“Our Risk Management Department is constantly working to bring our personnel and community many health and wellness opportunities that will be of benefit to them,” said Dr. Carol G. Perez, superintendent. “Receiving this award only affirms that we are on the right track in improving overall health.”

Fund members recognized ten school districts that included: Eanes, Fort Bend, Garland, Grapevine-Colleyville, Mayperal, Millsap, Royse City, Weslaco, Willis, and Mission CISD. The TASB Risk Management Fund is a self-insurance risk pool serving Texas school districts, community colleges education service centers and county appraisal districts.
