Superintendent, Dr. Carol G. Perez had the honor of participating in a special roundtable discussion with area and state education officials. The event was organized by State Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr. and included Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath.
One of the reasons for the visit was due to the success of districts in the Region One Education Service Center area, including Mission CISD. Students here are consistently rising to challenges that districts in other parts of the state are finding as hurdles they have not been able to overcome.
The state leaders also provided more information regarding new funding from the recent legislative session that is earmarked for Pre-K programs, early childhood programs, dyslexia and special education programs, as well as reading academies.
