It is a great year for the Veterans Memorial FFA Chapter at the 2021 Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show! There was an increase of FFA members participating in a variety of events and projects which allowed the VMHS FFA to have representation in almost every division! The Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show are as follows:
Breeding Heifer Division:
- Corynna Murillo placed 1st in her class and Reserve Grand Champion Middleweight Commercial ABC heifer and 2nd place in class – Commercial ABC heifer
- Erik Ibarra placed 1st in class and Grand Champion Lightweight Commercial AOB heifer and 3rd place in class - Commercial AOB heifer
- Meagan Turrubiates placed 2nd in class- Junior Brahman Show and 2nd place
- Raul Cerda placed 3rd in class- ARB heifer at Junior ARB Show and (RGVLS Futurity Show)
- Eliana Gallegos placed 6th in class with her AOB registered heifer
- Nyla Lerma placed 3rd in class - Junior Brahman show and 3rd in class
Nyla also participated in the Rio Grande Valley Brahman & F1 Association Jr. Showmanship Clinic & Show where she placed 3rd in class and was the Reserve Grand Champion Showman.
Breeding Hog Division:
- Genevive Martinez placed 7th in class -dark cross gilt
- Jake Ruiz placed 8th in class -light cross gilt
Breeding Goat Division:
- Micaela Flores placed 2nd in class - two breeding goats
- Dominique Cazares placed 3rd in class - breeding goat
- Ethan Valdez placed 5th in class -breeding goat
Breeding Lamb Division:
- Nyla Lerma placed in the Top Three- Senior lamb showmanship, Reserve Breed Champion Southdown lamb and placed 5th in class - medium wool
- Jaime Gutierrez won Grand Champion Intermediate Lamb Showman and placed 2nd in class- breeding lamb
Market Hog Division:
- Analisa Montalvo placed 1st in her class and Reserve Breed Champion – Duroc (RGV Essential Feeds Swine Futurity Show)
- Yesenia Govea placed 3rd in class -Spot (RGV Essential Feeds Swine Futurity Show)
- Jake Ruiz placed 1st in class -Light Cross market hog and a spot in the RGVLS Sale of Champions
