Veterans Memorial High School Band members competed against students from across the Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, November 20th at Edinburg High School at the TMEA All-Region Band Auditions. During this competition students compete for a coveted seat in the TMEA All-Region Bands.
A total of 18 students earned a seat in the TMEA All-Region Bands, with 12 advancing to the Pre-Area round to compete for a chance to audition for All-State. The VMHS Band program is immensely proud of the students for representing the campus at such a high level, and for maintaining the tradition of VMHS Band students representing the campus at TMEA All-Region Bands year after year.
The following students earned seats in the TMEA All-Region Band: Grecia Mayorga – (4th chair Flute Honors Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), Kendra Salazar – (8th chair Flute Symphonic Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), Cecilia Garcia – (1st chair Clarinet Concert Band), Noema Trevino – (3rd chair Tenor Sax Concert Band), Sarah Martínez-Salinas – (4th chair Trumpet Honors Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), Zamira Galvan – (16th chair Clarinet Concert Band), Erica De Leon – (4th char Bass Clarinet Symphonic Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), Rebecca Alejos – (7th chair Alto Sax Concert Band), Fernando Barsenas – (5th chair Tuba Honors Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), Reynaldo Calderon – (8th chair Horn Honors Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), Aaron Villarreal – (8th chair Flute Concert Band), Roy Cardenas – (11th chair Trumpet Honors Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), Gabriel Sanchez - 2nd chair Trumpet Concert Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), David Leal – (12th chair Clarinet Honors Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), Manuel Flores – (18th chair Clarinet Honors Band & Advanced to Pre-Area), Karl Schmidt – (20th chair Clarinet Symphonic Band), Samantha Yanez – (2nd chair Tuba Symphonic Band), Luz Luna – (13th chair Flute Symphonic Band),Two students also will be advancing to Pre-Area Round: Aleckzander Hernandez - Bassoon and Khalil El-Jirby - Oboe.
These band members will perform with students from across the Rio Grande Valley under the direction of esteemed conductors at the TMEA All-Region Band concert in January.
