Extinguishing fires is in the future for one MHS senior

Mission, Texas- Mission High School senior, Daniel Rodriguez, has been accepted to the South Texas College (STC) Fire Academy. The academy is a 26-hour program that is offered on a full or part-time basis and is completely transferable into the Fire Science Technology Associate.

The Fire Academy is selective, and applicants must meet legal, academic, and physical requirements. Only 20-25 applicants are selected for the program where cadets go through physical training, in class learning, practice drills, and live fire exercises. Once Daniel completes the academy, he will then be eligible to take the state certification to become an official Texas Firefighter.
