Mission, Texas- Veterans Memorial High School Jazz Band members, Javier Solis, Sarah Martínez-Salinas, and Reynaldo Calderon competed against many students across the Rio Grande Valley for a seat in the TMEA Region 15 All-Region Jazz Bands. Solis earned 2nd chair Trumpet, Martínez-Salinas earned 6th chair trumpet, and Calderon earned 2nd chair Bass Guitar
This competitive audition process was held at Sharyland High School on Tuesday, September 27th. Javier and Reynaldo have advanced to the extremely competitive Area audition, where they will record their next audition piece for a chance to become a TMEA All-State Jazz Musician.
The VMHS Band program is immensely proud of our students for representing our campus at such a high level, and for continuing to represent VMHS in the TMEA All-Region Jazz Bands. Students selected as TMEA All-State Jazz Musician will perform a concert on Saturday, February 18th with musicians from around the Valley under the direction of esteemed jazz educators from across the country.
