Mission CISD purchasing department receives award of merit

Mission, Texas- Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) officials have been notified that the district’s purchasing department has earned the Purchasing Award of Merit. This is the third year in a row the district’s Purchasing Department has earned special recognition. The Award of Merit was created by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) to recognize school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education service centers that are committed to following professional standards in the acquisition of goods and services.

The 58 honorees recognized through the award this year demonstrate professional purchasing operations and share their best practices in policies and procedures with colleagues throughout the state.

“The Purchasing Department plays a vital role in our operations,” said Dr. Carol G. Perez, superintendent. “Not only do they make sure we abide by all laws and regulations, but they also help ensure we get the best value in our acquisitions through a transparent process. The benefactors of such are always our students and staff.”

Volunteers with the TASBO Purchasing and Supply Management Research Committee evaluate the award criteria to ensure it represents the latest best practices.
