Mission High School Classical Guitar members traveled to a UIL event recently held at La Joya ISD where some walked away with medals. Gold medal winners are also State Qualifiers and will head to Austin, Texas soon for the State competition.
Congratulations to the following students who are set to move on to the next level are Thomas Mutanen, Michael Morado and Israel Lopez. The following students received silver medals, Mauricio Najera and Fernando Hernandez. The bronze medal recipients are Cristian Barroso, Jonathan Lopez, Richard Tirado, Eliseo Vivas, and Ezequiel Mendoza.
The MHS Classical Guitar members that participated in the competition are as follows, Richard Tirado, Jesus Almaraz, Matthew Cortez, Fernando Hernandez, Mauricio Najera, Jackqueline Camacho, Thomas Mutanen, Michael Morado, Delaney Caceres, Israel Lopez, Jonathan Lopez, David Saldivar, Eliseo Vivas, Adrian Vargas, Ezequiel Mendoza, Eric Silva, Sebastian Delgado, Jennifer Rodriguez, Alekz Gutierrez, and Cristian Barroso.
All medal recipients competed in the Solo division and received a 1 rating. Students competed in three different classes. Class 3 is the Bronze medal, Class 2 is the Silver and Class 1 is the Gold medal. The MHS Classical Guitar program is under the direction of Marcelino Farias.
