Laila is proud of receiving first place and best female dancer honors at a recent dance competition held at UTRGV. Some of her daily extra-curricular activities include: competitive dancing, tumbling, cheer, and basketball. She also teaches tumbling at her uncle’s gym. In the future she hopes to attend Texas Christian University and major in law. Her leadership abilities are perhaps what people notice the most which helps make her a worthy Student of the Week. Laila is the daughter of Javier Vela and Debbie Esquivel-Vela.
