Mission CISD had many campuses recognized as a National Showcase School

Mission Consolidated Independent School District (MCISD) is proud to announce that 14 schools have been recognized as a National Showcase School by the Capturing Kids’ Heart (CKH). Due to the rigor of the evaluation process, the Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools Award is both a high aspiration and an exemplary recognition of excellence.

The schools that have received this honor are, Alton Elementary, Cantu Elementary, Castro Elementary, Escobar/Rios Elementary, O’Grady Elementary, Leal Elementary, Midkiff Elementary, Pearson Elementary, Salinas Elementary, Waitz Elementary, Alton Memorial Junior High, K. White Junior High, Mission Collegiate High School, and Veterans Memorial High School.

“We are so excited that so many of our schools received this recognition but most importantly the work that is being carried out by our passionate teachers with the tools that they have been provided,” states Dr. Carol G. Perez, Mission CISD superintendent. “They are teaching students to develop collaborative and respectful relationships with one another that will enable them to work as a team while preparing them for college and career readiness.”

Capturing Kids’ Hearts is a character-based program that equips teachers with tools to build meaningful relationships with every student and colleague, create safe and effective learning environments, along with techniques for dealing with conflict and behaviors.

CKH had already been implemented at some schools a few years back but two years ago this program went district wide.  It is apparent that Capturing Kid’s Hearts is positively impacting our students and our campuses. This recognition only demonstrates that district educators are doing outstanding work and are making a difference in the lives of their students.
