VMHS senior Aliyah Pelayo is moving on up to play at the collegiate level

Mission, Texas - Veterans Memorial High School soccer player, Aliyah Pelayo just signed a letter of Intent to play soccer at the collegiate level. She will be headed to Texas Southmost College to become a Scorpion with their women’s soccer team.

Pelayo will start her training this fall and will be concentrating her academic efforts on obtaining a degree in the medical field with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.

“First off, I would like to thank my mom for always motivating me to be better and pushing me to do my best. She's my role model and the strongest person I know,” states Pelayo. “I would also like to thank Coach Nuñez for seeing the potential in me since day one, both on and off the field.”

Coach Kenan Nuñez shares his experience coaching Pelayo at such a high athletic level and her commitment to the sport and her team.

“She always leaves everything on the field, no matter what. She’s a scoring machine. I’m happy that her talent was finally recognized by a college,” shares Coach Nuñez. “I wish her all the best, in life, in soccer, and in college.”

Aliyah is the daughter of Eliza and Alberto Pelayo
