Mission CISD Safety and Security Committee Embarks on New Year's Mission for Enhanced School Safety 

Mission, TX - January 9, 2024 - The Mission Consolidated Independent School District (MCISD) Safety and Security Committee convened on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, marking the official commencement of their dedicated efforts for the new year.

 This assembly of key stakeholders, comprising law enforcement officials, MCISD leadership, and dedicated staff, reaffirms their unified commitment to fostering a positive and secure school environment for both students and staff. 

The overarching mission of the committee remains steadfast: to create an atmosphere that prioritizes the well-being of all individuals within the school community. With a collective vision centered on enhancing and sustaining school safety, the committee diligently works towards implementing comprehensive strategies and initiatives aimed at fortifying the safety and security measures across Mission CISD. 

As part of its collaborative approach, Mission CISD has partnered with various organizations that make up the committee including: 

  • School board members

  • District Administration members

  • Campus Administration members

  • Parental Liaisons

  • Local Law Enforcement (Mission, Alton, Palmhurst, and Pct. 3 Constables Office)

  • Local Fire Prevention (Mission, Alton)

  • Local and County Emergency Management

  • Local and County Health Services ​

Pooling resources and expertise to bolster school safety initiatives is pivotal for the committee. The concerted efforts of the committee and its collaborators are exemplified by the rollout of new initiatives that are set to redefine safety standards within the district in the coming year. 

"We are resolute in our commitment to the safety of our students, educators, and staff," said Martin Castaneda, director of Safety and Security and Emergency Management at Mission CISD.  

"By bringing together law enforcement, educational leaders, and dedicated staff, we are not only addressing current challenges but proactively working towards a safer and more secure school environment." 

The newly initiatives encompass a spectrum of measures, including enhanced security protocols, crisis response training, and community engagement programs. These initiatives are designed not only to address immediate concerns but also to create a foundation for a sustained culture of safety within Mission CISD. 

Looking ahead, the committee is optimistic about the positive outcomes that will emerge from their collective endeavors. The focus extends beyond the physical aspects of safety to the overall well-being of students, educators, and the wider community. By fostering an environment that prioritizes safety, Mission CISD aims to create a conducive space for learning, growth, and community development.
