Teacher Incentive Allotment 2023-2024

MISSION, TX (March 1, 2024) - In addition to the 245 currently designated Teacher Incentive Allotment teachers, Mission Consolidated Independent School District has been notified that 83 teachers were added or moved up a level in the state’s Texas Incentive Allotment, providing the opportunity for classroom teachers to earn six-figure salaries. GRAPH

The 86th Legislature passed House Bill 3 in June of 2019 establishing the Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) with a stated goal of a six-figure salary for teachers to “prioritize teaching in high needs areas and rural district campuses.” The Texas Commission on Public School Finance stated

In addition to helping attract and keep their effective educators in the classroom, public schools implementing these systems would be able to identify their more effective educators and then provide incentives for them to teach at their most challenged campuses, increasing the equitable distribution of effective educators.”

The goal of the Teacher Incentive Allotment is to ensure top teachers have a realistic pathway to a competitive salary based upon a Teacher Observation Score generated from Domains 2 and 3 on T-TESS (40%), Dimensions 4.3 (professional development) and 4.4 (school community involvement) on T-TESS (10%), and a Student Growth Score (50%). In Mission CISD, student growth is based upon Student Learning Objectives.

Teacher designations are contingent upon meeting statewide eligibility requirements:

Teachers must be employed by Mission CISD as a teacher in a student-facing instructional role as of February 23, 2024.

Teachers must meet TEA’s creditable year of service requirement and be compensated for 90+ days at 100% of the day or 180+ days at 50% of the day.

Dr. Carol G. Perez, Mission Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent, stated, “We are so pleased to have additional teachers meeting the criteria to become Teacher Incentive Allotment teachers. The goal is to continually increase the number of teachers receiving the designation and remaining in the classroom, providing the best instruction. Congratulations to our TIA designated teachers!”
