Ready, Set, Pre-K! Top things to know when sending your child to pre-k at Mission CISD

MISSION, TEXAS (JULY 31, 2025) – Mission Consolidated Independent School District (Mission CISD) is excited to welcome our youngest learners - Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 students - for the 2025–2026 school year! Here are the key things families should know to help make the first days smoother for everyone.

What Will My Child Learn?

Our full-day Pre-K program is designed around hands-on learning, early reading and math skills, creative play, and social-emotional development. Pre-K classrooms are led by certified educators trained to support young learners.

Is it a Bilingual Program?

Yes! We use a One-Way Dual Language model, so children build skills in both English and Spanish, helping them grow academically and culturally.

Will Meals Be Provided?

Yes! Every student receives a free breakfast (served in the classroom) and free lunch every day.

What About Nap Time and Recess?

  • Pre-K3 students will have a scheduled nap time.
  • All Pre-K students will enjoy daily outdoor play and recess time.

What Should My Child Wear?

  • Uniforms are required. Each school has its own dress code guidelines (check your campus handbook).
  • Students must use clear or mesh backpacks.

How Does Drop-off and Pick-up Work?

  • Each school has clearly marked drop-off zones.
  • On the first day of school only, parents are welcome to walk their PRE-K child to class.

Does My Child Need to Be Potty Trained?

  • Potty training is encouraged but not required.
  • Staff are trained to support children who are still learning.

Checklist for Parents:

  • Label everything: jackets, backpacks, lunchboxes, etc.
  • Pack a change of clothes in a sealed, labeled bag.
  • Get familiar with your school’s communication tools (Class Dojo, app, etc.).
  • Start a consistent bedtime routine before school starts.
  • Review the school calendar and daily schedule in advance.

Mission CISD is here to support your child’s first school experience every step of the way. Pre-K is more than just play - it's the start of a lifelong learning journey, and we’re honored to be part of it with your family.
