MISSION, TEXAS (AUGUST 5, 2025) – Tax-free weekend is right around the corner, and Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) would like to remind families about the potential savings available during Texas’ annual Sales Tax Holiday.
This year’s Sales Tax Holiday begins Friday, August 8, and runs through midnight Sunday, August 10, 2025. During this time, families can purchase qualifying back-to-school items tax-free from Texas stores, or from online and sellers doing business in Texas. In most cases, no exemption certificate is required to purchase qualifying items tax-free.
The sales tax exemption applies only to eligible items, including:
- Clothing
- Footwear
- School supplies
- Backpacks
- And other approved items
In preparation for the upcoming school year, Mission CISD has released a list of items that parents and guardians will need to provide to ensure students are ready for the first day of classes. The list includes essential supplies to help students start the year organized and equipped for success.
Families are encouraged to review the checklist and make the necessary arrangements ahead of time. The full list of required items can be accessed at the following link: Back To School Supply Lists 2025-2026.
To help families plan their shopping, a full list of qualifying and non-qualifying items is available on the Texas Comptroller’s website: https://comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/publications/98-490/
Mission CISD encourages families to take full advantage of this cost-saving opportunity to stock up on the school supplies their children need for a strong start to the new academic year.
