Excellence Adds Up: Mission CISD earns top marks from TEA’s FIRST rating system

MISSION, TEXAS (AUGUST 27, 2025) – Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) is celebrating a tradition of accountability and excellence after receiving strong ratings from the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

The district earned an “A” rating in Financial Accountability through the state’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) — the highest recognition for responsible stewardship, transparency, and strong financial practices.

In addition, Mission CISD received a “B” rating in State Accountability, reflecting the dedication and hard work of students, staff, and the entire Mission CISD community as the district continues to raise the bar for classroom success.

According to TEA, the FIRST rating system is designed to ensure Texas public schools are held accountable for sound financial management practices while maximizing resources for student learning.

Mission CISD Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Cris Valdez, said these results highlight the district’s commitment to excellence both in and out of the classroom:

“These achievements showcase the teamwork of our Board of Trustees, administration, teachers, and staff who remain dedicated to student success and fiscal responsibility. Together, we’re building a stronger future for every student.”

Mission CISD remains committed to transparency, responsible resource management, and providing high-quality educational opportunities that prepare students for lifelong success.
