MISSION, TEXAS (Nov. 19, 2025) – Mission Consolidated Independent School District (Mission CISD) is proud to recognize Sylvia Moreno, a dedicated member of the district’s Child Nutrition Program who has served students for 14 years, providing safe, fresh, and nutritious meals that help fuel learning every day.
A DAILY COMMITMENT TO FEEDING MISSION CISD STUDENTS
Moreno begins her workday at 6:00 a.m., preparing breakfast for students before moving directly into lunch preparations. Throughout the day, she ensures that every meal is cooked properly, kept at the correct temperatures, and served in a clean, welcoming environment.
“We prepare daily—the meals to be hot every day,” Moreno said. “Everything we make is fresh so the kids can be happy and eat the food we make for them.”
Her work spans breakfast and lunch services for pre-K through fifth grade, following recipes, maintaining strict safety procedures, and coordinating with her team to keep meal service running smoothly.
MEETING STUDENTS’ MOST ESSENTIAL NEEDS
In Mission CISD, no child should go hungry. Nutrition is the first tier of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, and meeting this fundamental requirement lays the foundation for every child’s academic success. By ensuring students receive nutritious meals, Moreno and her team help support learning, focus, and overall well-being.
“Everything we do is for the kids so everything will be nice and clean,” she said. “The most proud I am is to serve the kids every day—the big smiles they have when we serve them.”
Mission CISD celebrates Sylvia Moreno for her 14 years of service, dedication, and compassion. Her work continues to nourish students, strengthen campuses, and support the district’s mission to provide every child the opportunity to learn and thrive.
