MISSION, TEXAS (JAN. 20, 2026) – Mission Consolidated Independent School District (CISD) continued its five-year strategic planning journey on January 7, 2026, as district leaders met at Mission CISD Central Office for the second Texas Strategic Leadership (TSL) planning session in partnership with the Texas Education Agency and Region One Education Service Center.
Building on data gathered during the Landscape Analysis phase, district leaders worked collaboratively to reflect on current systems and identify priority focus areas that will guide improvement efforts across the district. The session centered on defining what students should experience academically and holistically from Pre-K through graduation, using district data to inform future direction.
“This work is about continuously reflecting on who we are as a district and how we can better serve our students,” said Mission CISD Superintendent Dr. Cris King. “We are committed to using data and collaboration to move from good to great.”
Through this work, Mission CISD identified emerging areas of focus that include strengthening academic experiences, building instructional leadership and capacity, and enhancing student support systems. These priorities will help guide decision-making as the district aligns resources and strategies to support student success.
“This is a team effort, and it takes everyone working together to move a district forward and improve student outcomes,” said TSL Executive Coach Edward Blaha. “What we do every day has tremendous importance.”
Next steps in the process include shaping a shared vision for student success through the creation of the Mission CISD portrait of a graduate and an envisioned student environment. Together, this framework will serve as a unifying compass for the district, guiding strategic planning, instructional design, and daily practice to ensure every student graduates prepared to thrive.
Mission CISD’s participation in Texas Strategic Leadership reflects the district’s commitment to thoughtful planning, collaboration, and long-term improvement to ensure students are prepared for success beyond graduation.
