In Accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and applicable state and federal record retention requirements from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC)), Mission CISD gives notice of its intent to destroy Special Education records.
Records are destroyed five years after cessation of services. Cessation of services results when a student graduates, is dismissed from Special Education Services, moves out of the district, or drops out of school.
Records currently considered for destruction are for students whose services ceased for school years 2009-2015.
Parents/guardians of these students or the adult student (aged 18 or over) may contact the Records Department on our website https://www.mcisd.net/apps/pages/fixedassets or at 956-323-8900 before April 2, 2026, should they wish to request a copy of their records. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines will be followed when releasing school records.
