MISSION, Texas — Mission Consolidated Independent School District celebrated academic excellence and the power of meaningful relationships during its annual Mission Excellence Event, held at Ballis Terrace, where the district honored the top five percent of graduating seniors from Mission High School, Veterans Memorial High School, and Mission Collegiate High School.
The event brought together students, families, educators, and district leaders to recognize the achievements of some of Mission CISD’s highest performing seniors. Each honoree was celebrated not only for their academic success, but for the dedication, discipline, and perseverance that define the Mission CISD standard of excellence.
A signature moment of the evening highlighted the profound impact educators have on student success. Each student selected a teacher, coach, or mentor who played a significant role in their journey. During the ceremony, students personally honored these individuals by presenting them with a red rose, a symbolic gesture of gratitude and appreciation.
“This event is a reflection of what makes Mission CISD special,” said Superintendent Dr. Cris King. “Our students’ success is built on strong relationships, high expectations, and a commitment to excellence from both our students and the educators who guide them every day.”
Throughout the evening, student speakers shared reflections of gratitude, emphasizing the influence of their chosen honorees, and the lasting impact those relationships will have beyond graduation.
“Along the way, the support of those around us, friends who encouraged us, teachers who believed in us, and families who never gave up on us, made a difference we cannot overlook,” said Savanna Jo Avila, Mission High School senior. “As we look toward the future, we carry not only the knowledge and resilience built through hard work, but also a deep gratitude for the people who helped shape who we are becoming.”
The Mission Excellence Event serves as a celebration of both achievement and mentorship, reinforcing the district’s belief that success is not accomplished alone, but through a strong support system dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential.
Mission CISD remains committed to fostering academic excellence and building meaningful connections that prepare students for college, careers, and beyond.
