"I am incredibly proud of all our TMSCA state qualifiers. Reaching this level requires countless hours of dedicated practice, often mastering concepts of four to five grade levels above their own,” said KWJH Math Teacher and TMSCA Math Team Coach, Adrian Chapa. “While it would be easy to step back when the material becomes difficult, these students take pride in pushing their limits. We’ve built a team-centered environment where they support and learn from one another.”

According to the University Interscholastic League, the contest evaluates speed and accuracy in arithmetic as well as the ability to solve complex problems involving exponents, roots, logarithms, trigonometric functions, and algebraic reasoning.

Mission CISD continues to emphasize strong academic foundations through rigorous coursework and competitive academic opportunities. The accomplishments of these students reflect the district’s ongoing commitment to excellence in STEM education and student achievement.

The TMSCA math team is coached by Adrian Chapa and the science team is coached by Damaris Villagomez. Their leadership and dedication continue to support student growth and success in academic competition.
