MISSION, TEXAS (August 7, 2026) – From repairing vehicles and serving customers to building confidence and discovering future careers, Mission CISD students spent their summer turning classroom learning into real-world success through the Mission Ready Internship Program. Their hard work and dedication were recognized during the Intern Celebration hosted by the Mission Economic Development Corporation.
Mission Consolidated Independent School District proudly recognizes the students who successfully completed this summer's Mission Ready Internship Program. Over the course of six weeks, students gained valuable hands-on experience through internships with local businesses, explored potential career pathways, and developed professional and technical skills that will prepare them for future success.
Mission CISD's 2025 Mission Ready Internship Program graduates include:

- Destiny Herrera
- Andres Mendez
Throughout the program, each student demonstrated dedication, professionalism, and a willingness to embrace new challenges while gaining real-world career experience.
One of this year's participants, Veterans Memorial High School alumnus Andres Mendez, completed his internship with TNT Automotive, where he immersed himself in the day-to-day operations of the automotive industry.
"It was such an incredible experience, and I worked hard every day working on cars and learning about vehicle maintenance," said Mendez. "The most challenging project I worked on was car tinting. It may seem easy, but it's actually a very valuable skill to learn. I'm so thankful for this opportunity because it really pushed me out of my comfort zone."
Tony Garza, owner of TNT Automotive and Mendez's internship supervisor, praised the student's commitment and work ethic throughout the internship.
"My goal was to teach core life skills along with technical skills, including automotive services, customer service, and hands-on experience," Garza said. "Andres did a wonderful job. If we had the opportunity to hire him as an employee today, we absolutely would."
Mission CISD extends its sincere appreciation to the City of Mission and the Mission Economic Development Corporation for their continued partnership and investment in the future of Mission CISD students. Through the Mission Ready Internship Program, these community partners are helping create meaningful opportunities that empower students to build confidence, gain valuable workplace experience, and prepare for successful careers.
