MISSION, TEXAS (SEPT. 16, 2026) – Mission Consolidated Independent School District continues to prioritize the safety and security of students and staff through ongoing evaluation, planning and improvements across the district.
During the District Safety and Security Meeting held at the Mission CISD Annex on September 9, 2026, members reviewed the district’s regular three-year safety review cycle.
This routine process helps Mission CISD confirm that established safety procedures and protocols remain effective, current and aligned with safety requirements and best practices. District teams continuously review and strengthen these measures as part of the district’s proactive approach to maintaining safe and secure learning environments.
“Safety is an ongoing process that requires us to continually evaluate where we are and where we can improve,” said Martin Castañeda, Director of Safety and Security for Mission CISD.
“These reviews help us strengthen the systems we already have in place, address areas that need attention and continue building safe, supportive learning environments for our students and staff.”
HANDLE WITH CARE
During the meeting, members also reviewed student support through Region One Education Service Center’s Handle with Care initiative.
The discussion reinforced the district’s commitment to both physical safety and providing appropriate support for students who may be experiencing difficult circumstances.
Mission CISD will continue working alongside campus administrators, district departments, law enforcement and community partners to strengthen safety practices and maintain secure learning environments throughout the district.
Mission CISD’s approach to safety is built on preparation, collaboration and continuous evaluation. Through established procedures, regular safety reviews and strong partnerships with campus leaders, law enforcement and community agencies, the district remains committed to maintaining secure, supportive learning environments where students and staff can focus on what matters most, teaching and learning.
