MISSION, TEXAS - (September 16, 2026) - The Wonderful Citrus Run for Autism brought the community together for a morning of celebration and support, raising more than $36,000 for Mission Consolidated Independent School District.
Funds raised through the event will directly support Mission CISD’s Special Education program, helping provide additional resources, specialized equipment and technology for students across the district.
A Community Coming Together
The event drew a strong turnout from throughout the community, with participants, families, Mission CISD students and staff coming together in support of a shared cause.
Mission CISD cheer and dance teams helped bring energy to the event, while mariachi performances showcased the talents of district students and added to the celebration.
Supporting Mission CISD Students
Mission CISD Superintendent Dr. Cris King expressed her appreciation to Wonderful Citrus and everyone who helped make the event a success.
“We are incredibly grateful to Wonderful Citrus for its generosity and continued support of our students,” King said. “This contribution will make a meaningful difference for our Special Education program and the students and families we serve. Seeing so many people come together in support of our students is a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished through strong community partnerships.”
The funding will allow the district to make targeted investments in resources that directly support students receiving special education services.
“We are incredibly grateful for these funds and the opportunities Wonderful Citrus provides for our students,” said Francisca Cruz, Executive Director for Special Education, Section 504 & MTSS.
“This grant will allow us to update and replace specialized equipment across the district, including resources in our sensory rooms and TITANS House, while also investing in additional technology such as iPads to enhance student services. These resources can be costly, but every investment helps us strengthen the support we already provide and make an even greater impact for our students.”
More Than a Fundraiser
The Wonderful Citrus Run for Autism served as more than a fundraising event. It provided an opportunity for the community to celebrate inclusion, support Mission CISD students and families, and strengthen partnerships that directly benefit students.
Mission CISD thanks Wonderful Citrus, event organizers, participants, volunteers, student performers and everyone who helped make this year’s event a success.
