Credit by Examination dates announced

The parents of Mission CISD (Consolidated Independent School District) students interested in having their children participate in the district’s Credit by Examination (CBE) Without Prior Instruction have two deadlines this school year to keep in mind.  The application period for the first testing dates will be September 2 – October 4, 2013.  Dates in this testing period include: November 4, 5, and 6, 2013.  The application period for the second testing dates will be March 24 – April 23, 2014.  Testing dates in the second testing period are: June 3, 4, and 5, 2014.

A test consists of two sections of three hours each.  A score of 90% or better is required on each part of the test in order to receive credit.  Elementary tests consist of four content areas (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies).  Students taking Credit by Examination for high school credit are required to take the state mandated STAAR EOC to fulfill their state testing requirements for graduation.

Applications are available in English and Spanish.  Parents interested in exploring Credit by Examination for their child should contact the school counselor or call the Mission CISD Advanced Academic Services office at 323-5506.
