The Veterans Memorial High School (VMHS) FFA Chapter recently participated in the Area Ten Leadership Development Events in Kingsville, Texas, competing against chapters from throughout South Texas. The chapter’s Farm Radio Broadcasting Team placed second at the event and now qualifies for state competition. The team members are: Zenaida Alaniz, Samantha Diaz, Rene Olivarez. They compete later this week.
Other VMHS FFA Chapter teams and members performed well at the Area competition, but did not qualify for state. The Greenhand FFA Quiz Team of Samantha Diaz, Rene Olivarez, and Sergio Rodriguez placed tenth. The Senior FFA Quiz Team consisting of Roy Guerrero, Samantha Diaz, David Bazan, and Priscilla Cerroblanco placed ninth. The Public Relations Team consisting of Kendra Garcia, Nate Garza, and Angel Sanchez placed twelfth. Also placing twelfth at the area contest was Galilea Zorola in the Job Interview competition. Senior FFA Creed Speaker, Zenaida Alaniz placed fifth.
