The Junior class of Mission High School (MHS), in collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of Mission is giving toys to children in need. Junior class officers, as well as participating students are working to reach Junior Sponsor Imelda Becho’s goal of over 400 toys. The annual toy drive will take place Friday, December 20, between 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at La Placita, located on Conway Street across from H.E.B.

“This is our 21st year conducting the toy drive, and we have enough toys to give out every year,” Becho said. “Every child wants to give and participate.”

Many MHS teachers and students are participating in the toy drive. Junior class officers and many other student volunteers are assisting in making goodie bags as well. Both the toys and goodie bags will be distributed to children in need.

“There’s nothing better than knowing you participated in someone’s happiness,” Junior class officer, Carolina Briones, said.

The MHS toy drive gives students and staff the opportunity to spread Christmas cheer by helping the less fortunate.

“I really want to thank Mr. Flores and his administration for being such an advocate to the toy drive, they have been a big help to us,” Becho said.
